Previous: Instrumentation effort:
ARM uses a costly and cumbersome technique to achieve correlation of
measurements. The application developer must care for passing
identifiers of transaction instances
throughout the application. Thus, correlation of subtransactions is
hardly ever used today and instrumentation of component based
applications is almost impossible.
Our approach completely automates correlation of measurements. By
using the information about the control flows the application is
executing in, no care at all must be taken by the developers about how
the measurements correlate with each other. As the correlation of
subtransactions thus requires no additional effort, by far more
detailed measurements can be expected.
