6.3.1 Supporting Processes

The NoCScontrol system has limited support by supporting processes since since it is a small prototype for policy-based management of a nomadic computer system scenario. This can be seen from the policy life cycle in figure [*]. There is no real distribution process, no test process, and no delegation process, because responsibilities are not considered and used by the system.

Refinement is only supported by providing three different kinds of policy objects. These follow the three levels of policies as described in [Koch 97]. There is no refinement process in terms of a description or computer support. The focus of the system is the enforcement and for this purpose an automated enforcement of obligation policies6.6 is implemented.

For this reason, the implementation of metapolicies provides control in the areas of refinement and enforcement. This allows the specification of metapolicies in the categories refinement, conflict, exception, and enforcement.
